At St Olave's Prep School, we believe in nurturing the voices of our students and empowering them to become confident leaders in their own right. Our vision and values of Collaboration, Compassion, Curiosity, Commitment, Creativity, and Courage are reflected in the various opportunities we provide for our pupils to actively participate and make a difference within our school community.
Children are given the opportunity to take on roles such as class monitors, where they assist teachers with classroom tasks and help children in their play and with reading.
Our School Parliament members represent the pupil body, bringing forth ideas, concerns, and suggestions to help shape the school environment. They are voted for by their peers after presenting their manifesto to their class. Their tenure is 1 year.
Children involved in the Eco Committee take on the responsibility of promoting sustainability practises within the school and initiating eco-friendly initiatives.
Rights Ambassadors champion and raise awareness of the UNCRC both in school, in our local community and around the world.
Peer mentors are trained to provide guidance and support to their fellow pupils, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity within the school.
Wellbeing Champions promote mental health awareness and support their peers in maintaining positive mental wellbeing.
Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are trained to work towards creating a safe and respectful school environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Young Interpreters help facilitate communication and understanding among children from diverse linguistic backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and cultural exchange.
Equality Heroes champion diversity and inclusivity, promoting equality and fairness within the school community.
A group of children dedicated to promoting food and healthy eating in and around our school. They meet regularly with our catering team and provide suggestions and feedback from all pupils and staff across the school. One of their recent suggestions was to have a 'Meat Free Monday', which is now implemented weekly.
Through these diverse opportunities for leadership, St Olave's Prep School aims to instil in our students the values of responsibility, empathy, and initiative. We believe that by empowering our pupils to take on leadership roles and actively engage in decision-making processes, we are nurturing the future leaders of tomorrow.
