Take a look at some of the more frequently asked questions we get here at St Olave's Prep School.
Yes, absolutely! Our headteacher, Miss Holloway, encourages families who are considering a place at St Olave’s to have a personal tour of the school with her so that you get the full St Olave’s experience and ensure that it’s the right school for you. There’s a lot more to us than what you can see from the road, and you’ll be amazed at what is hidden behind the doors at St Olave’s.
Application forms will be sent out after the family has had a tour of the school. Pupils are considered on an individual basis.
No. St Olave’s is an inclusive school and as such does not require children to take an entrance exam to be given a place.
Yes, as an inclusive school, St Olave’s accepts children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. However, it is important for parents to be open and honest with the school about their child’s needs in order for us to ensure that we can meet their needs before a place is offered.
Doors open at 8.20am for parents to drop their children off until 8.40am. This time frame ensures that not everyone arrives at the same time and reduces the pressures on parking around the school site. Likewise, we have a staggered finish time with each year group leaving at slightly different times, from 3.10pm for Reception to 3.40pm for Year 6. The Nursery class finishes at 1.00pm when they attend for mornings only. The afternoon session finishes at 3.10pm.
Our school uniform supplier is OZ Schoolwear who can be contacted on 01689 824767 or through their website www.ozschoolwear.co.uk. OZ Schoolwear makes deliveries to school every week so you are able to place your order with them and pick it up from school the following Monday.
You can call the school office on 0208 294 8930 or contact us via email at [email protected]
There is a wide range of clubs which are run by staff at the school, most of which there is no charge for. Playzone (after school childcare until 6pm) and Breakfast Club are available to all pupils for an additional charge.
Yes, a 10% discount is offered for second and subsequent siblings attending St Olave’s.
Yes, we have a range of peripatetic teachers who work with St Olave’s to teach children guitar, piano, violin, harp and singing. There is an additional charge for peripatetic music lessons.
St Olave's Prep School accepts childcare voucher and tax-free childcare payments for ‘qualifying childcare’ i.e. care provided for any child aged three (or rising three, which means a child who will be three before the end of term) until 31 March, 31 August or 31 December next after the child celebrates his or her fifth birthday.
This means that you can use childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare to pay for your child’s Nursery Fees and also for part of the School Fees for their Reception year.
Further details are available on the Government website – https://www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare
Please note we do not offer the 15 or 30 hour free childcare for 3 and 4 year olds.
