Our Lower School, encompassing Year 1 and Year 2, is a hub of purposeful activity. During their time in the Lower School, every child secures the skills to become a confident and independent learner, ready for life in further up the school.
From Year 1, we encourage the pupils to organise and to think for themselves, and this is supported through the use of resources and prompts. As they move through the Lower School, we guide the children in their transitions between year groups, ensuring that by the time they leave the Lower School, they feel part of a thriving school community in which their individuality is cherished
In the Lower School, children are taught by their class teacher and benefit from a combination of whole class lessons and small group activities in English, Mathematics and Science, alongside Humanities and the Arts. Specialist teachers provide lessons in Music, Physical Education, Computing, French, Outdoor Learning and Cooking. We prioritise meeting the unique needs of each child, ensuring that every child is both challenged and supported to reach their full potential.
Throughout the year, children enjoy a range of enriching experiences including school trips, themed days, workshops, guest speakers, the annual Lower School Play, and our much-anticipated Sports Day.
